Great illustration, it annoys me the lengths they will go to make an illustration fit to whatever thy want, but if someone else illustrates it with a non WT illustration to prove otherwise, it's just bunkum. I'll try remember this one..

Talk out loud in public places...new preaching method? And go bags..
by snare&racket ini have been told of two things i had not heard of before.. one is a new preaching method, going to public places in a group e.g.
a cafe, and then talking of the topic quite loudly, for example maybe studying a watchtower or a chapter in a publication.
the idea being that people listen in and enquire etc etc.

I'm in the north of the UK, and can confirm the o go bags are a platform mandated thing. It was stressed at ours that it was for natural disasters but with a big wink as if to say "you know what it's REALLY for! TBH it's a good idea anyway, we've had some serious floods here before...

Unfortunately it's just as warm a welcome in our Hall, there's a really nice bunch of sincere people so I'm not sure what's going to jarr my lovely lady into seeing beyond the facade... Well, having read through every post in this thread I 'm fairly confident about how I feel about this steaming pile of poop. (oops, let the cat out of the bag there.)
"well, it's what we always thought anyway, no great shakes" I've been told by one elder.
"Yes, but if you'd vocalised that thought you could've been DF'd for it" I thought. (should've said it)
So it's the big day tomorrow, we all nod and agree that it makes sense, bypassing rational thought and logic. I wish there was someone else in my hall that felt the way I do. Specially my wife.
I don't know if I'll answer tomorrow, last week it was all I could do from tutting and shaking my head in disbelief. If I DO answer, it's got to include some references to what we USED to be TOLD to believe.

Some of my relatives and quite a few from our cong were there this afternoon, a few are attending as attendants tomorrow too so the meeting attendance locally will be very low.

No bibles at any kingdomhalls, strong rumors the annual meeting is regarding the bible...
by EndofMysteries infrom relatives and contacts in 2 states, there have been no bibles available for a couple months.
one person mentioned to me as well about supposed quotes in the magazines from other bibles.
rumors are that they will announce a new bible, or possibly tell everyone to buy a bible from another place that they approve of.

My two cents? If there is a new bible it'll be only SLIGHTLY revised, no major doctrinal stuff, but enough to give a little wiggle room for the future, and it'll be bound with an updated reasoning book..
